The rev B that got machined as rev A.
A customer changed a drawing's revision mid-job and never said so out loud. The shop ran 50 parts on the old print, and the waterjet time was already spent by the time anyone noticed. Drawrev is being built to watch the inbox where your drawings arrive and flag a revision mismatch before the file reaches the floor. Not live yet.
Pre-launch. No account, nothing built yet. Read the full case.
This is not a hypothetical. It is a real job, a real thread, and a real number.
In 2019 a machinist posted the story on Practical Machinist: an end customer revised a drawing after the parts were already out for quoting and cutting, and never told the shop. The shop ran the job, delivered fifty parts on the old revision, and the customer rejected all of them on the spot. Sixty-four replies followed, most of them the same argument every shop has had at least once, who eats the cost when a revision never reaches the floor.

What we are building
Drawrev has not shipped yet. This is the plan, not a live tool. The point is to catch what happened in that thread before it happens again, without asking a shop to change how drawings arrive.
Point it at the inbox
The plan is to connect Drawrev to the mailbox where OEM drawings already land, shared or forwarded. No new portal, no new upload habit for a customer to learn.
It reads the revision
It will read the part number and revision letter off an attached drawing or its file name, the same way anyone in the shop already checks a print by eye, just watching every message.
It flags the mismatch
When a revision does not match what is on the active job list, it flags it before the file reaches the floor, not after the parts come back rejected.
Questions, answered honestly
Is Drawrev live yet?
No. This page is pre-launch research, not a product. Nothing here reads a real inbox today. Leave your email above and you will hear the moment it opens, before anyone else does.
What will it plug into?
The plan is the inbox drawings already land in, shared or forwarded, not a new portal a customer has to learn. If that plan changes before launch, the people on the notify list hear it first.
Will it read anything beyond what I point it at?
The plan is to only ever look at the inbox and the job list a shop points it at, nothing else. There is no product built yet to make that promise concrete, which is exactly why it is written down here before any code beyond this page exists.
Does this replace my ERP or a PLM seat?
No. An ERP like JobBOSS or E2 stores and versions documents. A PLM seat with an OEM is real, but a lot of shops do not have one with every customer. Drawrev is being built for the gap between those two things, the shop that catches a revision by hand today because neither system watches an inbox for one.
Who is building this?
One person, researching this problem directly with job shops before writing a line of product code. See the link below.
Do not find out from a rejected part.
Leave your email. Nothing before launch, one message when it opens.
